Description:
The Registered Nurses employed to work on an assigned patient care unit. He/she functions within the policies and procedures governing nursing practice at Methodist network hospitals and demonstrated knowledge and skills to provide care for assigned patient population.
1. Completes and documents data needed for a physical/psychosocial assessment to define patient problems or needs within appropriate time frames.
2. Contributes to the development and maintenance of the patientīs nursing care plan and involves patient, as well as family/significant other when appropriate, in care, goal-setting, and decision making process.
3. Communicates patient needs and progress to other members of the health care team to ensure coordination of care and interdisciplinary collaboration.
4. Assists with and documents patient teaching, discharge instructions, and distribution of teaching materials.
5. Provides nursing care as outlined in the nursing care and medical plans of care, and documents observations and interventions in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
6. Functions as a team leader, and/or relief charge nurse, manages assigned case load by setting priorities, organizing activities, delegating, supervising and utilizing resources.
7. Performs all skills identified on the Basic RN Competency Skills Checklist in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
8. Seeks guidance as needed when performing nursing skills by utilizing resource persons, policy and procedure manuals or other references on standards of care.
9. Demonstrates an understanding and commitment to maintaining an environment that assures all customers, all individuals, are treated with dignity and respect. Employee actively participates in making recommendations for improving working relationships in the department/unit.
10. Follows all safety rules while on the job. Reports all accidents promptly and corrects minor safety hazards. Communicates with peers and management regarding any hazards identified in the workplace.
1. Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas.
2. Two years of hospital experience in specialty area required.
3. Must be able to communicate effectively in English.
4. Must pass Basic EKG test. (ICU and telemetry)
5. Must pass FHT (L&D)
